if it wasn’t one thing, it was another…
1-Woke up too early to do my “planned” route (I don’t have a headlight or rear flashers [hint Christmas present] and I don’t trust drivers on the road that early in the morning, so, stuck to “old faithfull” the BG.
2- Woke up too late to get in a brick before taking my son to his last day of summer camp. (Oh man, summer is over?!?!?)
3- Had to stop to get fallen limbs out of the path…Saw lots of evidence that this has been a recent re-occurring issue.
4- Didn’t have GU…Wanted it, but didn’t have it.
5- Got bug, (big bug) stuck in helmet. Which lead to me almost crashing along the side of th BG. From behind, I’m sure it looked pretty entertaining.
6- As soon as I stopped to retrieve helmet and sunglasses that had recently been flung from my head to get said bug out of helmet, some “dude” (no helmet and earphones) nearly misses my Oaks.
7- The sun wasn’t quite bright enough to illuminate ALL of the bumps in Bothell and so I almost lost one of my most favorite water bottles…so, had to stop and turn around and get that.
8- (almost forgot) Cafe Ladro’s parking lot, and perimeter parking was so full, I had to drive around the block 5 times, and still nothing opened up, so I went home. (and no, my truck does not fit in the drive through).
So, all in all I was probably gone 1 hour 30 minutes, but 1:20 in riding time.
BUT! THE Best part…When I got home, the fam was still asleep, so I got to wake mom and son and got to take him to his last day of summer camp. As of the week after next, he’ll be a “Kindergartener”!

Even though those all seem like “cons” in the day and life of a triathlete in training…all is good. YOu got your ride in, you’re safe, you didn’t crash or lose anything (except maybe your sanity for an hour or so) and you spent time with your most cherished things in life….your bike and truck…hahahahaha, just kidding, your son and wife, you knew thats wehat I meant!! Keep up the good work, there is no perfect training day, and therefore no “perfect race, but we do what we can with what we got and be thankful : )
Good show,
