Will run for Ladro

Yum!

Met with the usual suspects and E, and we ran the Sam River trail and back to the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow…Ladro to Wilmont.  This trail never gets boring.  The slough sure was flowing high and mighty.

I’ve never…

…taken a cold shower after a run…but, thanks to her inspirational post, I had to run. I had NO EXCUSE to sit inside and wait for my sons bus…So, I dawned my new Brooks happy feet, my new Brooks happy vest, and my ‘feet of flames’ play list and ran…Why? Because I CAN!. It wasn’t long, but, it is what I could squeeze in before the bus came.
Thanks to my friends at sweat for inspiring me to get out there and run…

So…Why haven’t YOU run today? What’s your EXCUSE!

Thanks for dragging my butt outta bed

Even with the “Extra hour” of sleep this morning, which I needed because I had forgotten to set my alarm, I still had to drag my butt outta bed. And since yesterday I was a no show, I couldn’t do that two days in a row. Ran surprisingly well considering the head cold I’ve got going on.
I still don’t like running that much, but it is slowly getting more entertaining. The thing that I do like about it is that if you do a Point A to Point B run, once you get to Point B, you’ve GOT to make it back to Point A and the only person you can rely on to get back to Point A is yourself.
Thanks M and S for getting me outta bed today! I appreciate it. Days that I run, or sweat first thing in the morning are always the best days.

Chew what you bite off

I think running with 3 folks who all have fresh legs, and 1 of them is doing the SF Marathon in 2 weeks might not have been such a good idea…but, I did it anyway.
My hamstrings felt like rubber bands stretched to their breaking point. Cardio wise I think I’m doing really well. My HR stayed a lot lower than it used to and my breathing wasn’t too labored.
But hammies were cooked and ready to be served. They felt pretty good this morning when I woke up. I stretched real well after yesterdays run and again some last night. Before coffee this morning I got in about 5 minutes of good stretches as well…So, going into it I thought I’d be in pretty good shape. But, I guess not.
The first 4 miles were great. My wingman was on fresh legs and set a good pace, but shortly after the turn around I was ready for a fork. 3 of us turned around and headed back while Dorrie had to put in more miles so she continued on while we headed back. I knew they were doing pretty well so I let them go and set my own pace…My hammies dictated more walking than 10:1’s so I walked a little more frequently…but I pressed on. My “power song” kicked in right at the top of the hill so it pushed me all the way “home”. Felt good to end on such a high note.
I think it’s going to be awhile before I do back to backs like this again.
But, I chewed what I bit off and thats what counts.

Thank you guys. I appreciate it. Two more “firsts” for me today.

Group run

Ran with 4 other folks from the Y Tri group this morning. They are training for the Seattle 1/2 coming up…I was just out trying to embrace the runner that is still somewhere to be found within me.
I think I need to recalculate my Nike+…It said I did 5.66 in 53 mins…I know I’m not a 9:21 miler and based on the markings on the trail I’m sure it was more like 5.5 miles.
Off to the bike store!

So, what did you do before breakfast?

Here’s to 100 miles!

No, not at one time, not in a weekend, not in a week, but over the course of my “blogging life”.  Yes, me, I’ve made it 100 miles…All this year, all since I started with Sweat365.  To some of you, not a big deal, you do that in a weekend, or in a week, or in two weeks.  To others, well, I’ll say that at one time if you asked me if I’d ever run 1 mile in my entire life I would have said, “nope, are you gonna eat that slice of pizza? Can you hand me the remote?”

I hate to say, “if I can do it, anyone can it”…But I will.  If I can do it, anyone can do it.  I won’t lie, it took an aweful lot of hard work, sweat, dedication and love and support from family and friends to get there, but, it is doable.

I can’t believe I’ve run 100 miles in my adult life.

WOW, Life’s Good!

Thank you!

sprinkler dodging

we ran our “old” route this morning from the Y around the loop and did the 2nd loop twice (as to not to have to dodge sprinklers again).  I had forgotten how many sprinklers we had to dodge…Which also meant dodging big rigs on the road.  Finished off with a good stretch.  The Y still has that brand “new, I just got a fresh coat of paint” smell…ugh.

did I mention today was a brick?

So, after riding the hills, we decided it would be a good idea to do a little run…(again, I ask who’s idea was this? OK, you can blame the triathlete in the group!) Ran from LB to Starbucks and back. Mapmyrun shows it to be 1.24 there and back…just a little run.
